Mark Meadows, the former North Carolina congressman and chief of staff to President Donald Trump, was removed from North Carolina's voter rolls by local election officials amid uncertainty about his residency in the state.

North Carolina outlet WRAL first reported on Wednesday that Meadows was booted from the voter rolls on April 11 on the heels of an investigation launched by Democratic State Attorney General Josh Stein into his voter registration in the state.

"Macon County administratively removed the voter registration of Mark Meadows under [state law] as he lived in Virginia and last voted in the 2021 election there," said Pat Gannon, a spokesman for the North Carolina elections board.

Both the New Yorker and WRAL previously reported that Meadows was registered to vote at a mobile home where he'd never state, according to the property owner, raising questions of voter fraud.

Meadows declined Insider's request for comment through his spokesman, Ben Williamson.
